Braces!, Why?
Orthodontics is about more than just a pretty smile.
It is a highly specialized field of dentistry that involves diagnosis,
precvention, and treatment of dental and facial irregularities. It
includes correction of crowded, improperly aligned teeth, spaces between
teeth, improper growth of facial structures. It also involved in
controling of harmful habits such as tongue thrusting, and thumb/finger
sucking, as well as orthopedic correction of skeletal meladics. Some
these conditions and abnormal habits if untreated may lead to not only
of dental and/or facial deformities, but also to speech, nutritional, and
possible breathing disorders. Crowded improperly aligned teeth are
difficult to maintain and may lead to and/or aggrivate gum disease, abnormal
wearing of teeth, cavities and eventual tooth loss. Improperly alignment
of teeth and jaws may also cause TM Joint disorders.
Braces! When?
The American Association of Orthodontists recomends that
all children visit an orthodontist at the age of 7, this helps
determine the approperiate timing to begin treatment if it is needed.
In some cases early interceptive treatment is warranted, to guide proper
growth and development of jaw structures and help avoid difficult, time
consuming and more costly treatment at a later age. A good orthodontist
usually works in a close cooperations with the patient's general dentist,
physician, speech therapist and other specialists.
Adult Orthodontics
Although adult orthodontics has been around for decades,
the thought of metal brackets and wires has been enough for many adults
to avoid much needed treatment. Addition of ceramic and clear plastic
braces in the past two decades has helped many adults cross this barrier.
Witth the advent of the Invisilign , an
invisible orthodontic system just within past
few years, the number of adults in orthodontic treatment is is growing
even more drasmatically.
Are you a candidate for this revolutionary method of orthodontic
treatment?. We will be glad to evaluate your teeth and jointly explore
this option with you at your initial consultation
at absolutely no charge.
