Fillings:

-
Fillings are usually the first and simple process to rebuild tooth structure
lost due to decay. Here the decayed part of tooth is removed and
replace with one of the several materials such as Silver amalgam, Composites
(tooth colored), Gold.
-
Crowns (caps):
-
In those instances where too much tooth structure is lost to decay and
tooth can not be filled using filling, a crown may be necessary to restore
tooth to it's functional state. Crowns are also necessary after a
tooth has been treated with root canal therapy. All teeth that need
a crown do not need to have a root canal therapy.
-
Root Canal Therapy:
-
Just like any part of our body, teeth are supplied with nerves for sensation
of temporature, pain. In some cases this nerve tissue may becomes
diseased due to deep cavity or trauma to the tooth. The dead or dying
nerve tissue has to be removed to avoid infection and/or pain and
swelling. This process of removing nerve tissue is known as root
canal therapy. A root canal treated tooth can remain and functions
like any other tooth for many years even for life time. All teeth
that have had root canal treatment should be protected with crowns.
-
Bridges and Dentures:
-
Fixed Bridge: Also known as fixed denture. Generally covers
a span of one or more missing teeth. Teeth on either side of the gap are
used to as bridge abutmant (Support) and are serve as anchors
-
Removable Dentures: A removable denture replaces one or more missing
teeth. It could be full denture, in this case all the missing teeth
in a particular jaw are replaced with artificial teeth. A removable
partial denture has only some teeth are missing or removed and replaced
with a partial denture that is supported by some of the remaining natural
teeth.
